A cute pumpkin make do?

DIY Day @ ASPTL

Edited to add to DIY day over at Kimbas A Soft Place to Land! Go over and check out everyones DIY projects! I have a Great one to share with you next week!

I have had this little primitive grungy pumpkin for a few years now, I purchased it off of ebay. I wanted to make it into a little pumpkin make do....I took the above candlestick added a little circle disk to it to hold the pumpkin, gave it a coat of black spray paint and this is what I have now....

What do you think?

Or I could use this one but painted black? I personally think I am leaning towards the taller one but wanted all of you lovelies to give me your opinion. Or do you think the whole shebang is just hideous? Shall I put it back in the closet? haha.

I love me some pumpkin decorations! I have a pumpkin topiary I am wanting to make as well as a few more pumpkin goodies! What fall pretties have you been crafting?

I have a couple of giveaways going on and I am still adding more!! Check them out here and here

I will be adding more tonight!!

The new blogger posting editor...

I have had a few emails about the new posting editor that blogger finalllllllly has, wondering where and how to do it. Let me tell you it's awesome! I stumbled on it the other day when I was changing some settings around and I was scared but I clicked it, saved, and I love it!

Ok click customize at the top of your blog and go into your layout.

The click on the Settings tab

You should be under the basic tab now, if not click it.

Scroll to the bottom under Global Settings and Click on Updated Editor.

Now click save settings at the bottom and your all set! Go write up a post and you will be amazed! When writing up a post you can click the picture thingy, it brings up a box, you upload all your pictures for that post, they stay in the pop up window and as you go on writing your post you put your mouse where you want it, and select one of the images you have uploaded, then click add image and voila your image goes where you want it to!!!

Now here is the explanation of the new features directly from the blogger site....

The updated post editor will bring a more stable, compatible, and predictable posting experience to Blogger. Improvements have been made to many different components, and we'll continue to update it over the coming months and years. Here's an overview of some of the improvements:

Improved Image Handling

When you upload an image to the new post editor it will appear as a thumbnail in the image dialog box. That way, you can upload several images at once, and then add them into your post at your convenience. The thumbnails will be available until you close the post editor.
When you add an image from the dialog into your post it will be placed at the insertion point instead of at the top of the post.
If you don’t like where an image is in your post, you can drag it around to another spot. If you drag it towards the left side of the editor it will float to the left, likewise for the right, and if you leave it in the center it will be centered. You can drag the image between paragraphs and other block elements. Unlike in the current editor, dragging in the new editor preserves the link to the full-size version of the image.
You can easily resize or remove an image with the image size “bubble.” Click on the image (Firefox 3 users may need to double-click) to bring up the bubble, and resize the image instantly. You can resize any image, including ones added by URL, but if you resize an image that was uploaded through the post editor we resample the image on our servers to keep the download size small.

Improved Raw HTML

If you use Edit HTML, especially to add tables and other advanced HTML to your posts, you should find that the new editor has a number of enhancements to make the experience less frustrating, or, dare we say it, even pleasant.
By default, the current post editor replaces any newlines in your post with
tags. This can cause problems when you want to use newlines to make table or list HTML clearer, since the inserted
s will mangle the formatting significantly. The new post editor does not introduce
s within tables, lists, scripts, styles, preformatted blocks, or objects.

Since they won’t destroy the formatting, the new post editor adds clarity newlines to the HTML that’s generated by Compose mode. For example, if you create a list in Compose mode and then look at it in Edit HTML, you’ll see that there are newlines before each of the

  • tags. For posts made with the new editor, the blog-level “Convert line breaks” setting (from Settings | Formatting) is ignored. Instead, newline behavior is controlled by an Edit HTML setting under “Post Options,” which affects how newlines and
tags are displayed in the Edit HTML editor. This means that, unlike “Convert line breaks,” you can change newline behavior when it would be useful for a given post without affecting the display of all the other posts on your blog.
We’ve also added a Compose mode setting to let you choose what happens when HTML tags are typed in to the Compose editor. The default, “Interpret typed HTML,” matches the current post editor’s behavior: typing “bold” into the editor would look like this in your post: bold. If you change the setting to “Show HTML literally” instead, you’ll get: bold.
The Edit HTML and Compose settings, along with the choice of whether to show Edit HTML or Compose by default, are saved per-user, per-blog and are updated when you save a post. The Edit HTML setting defaults to the value of the blog’s “Convert line breaks” the first time you open the new editor.

    Other New Features

  • Add your location to your posts with geotagging

  • Posts are now timestamped at the date and time they are published, not when they were orignally created.

  • Vertical resizing. You can now change the height of the post editor by dragging the resize handle in the lower right (near the labels field). The size is saved in a per-user, per-blog preference.

  • Easy link editing in Compose mode. Just click a link and you’ll have the option of changing its URL or removing the link

  • Full Safari 3 support on both Windows and Macintosh. The old editor is pretty quirky on these browsers, but the new editor works as you’d expect.

  • New Preview dialog that shows your post in a width and font size approximating what you’d see on a blog.

  • Placeholder image for tags (such as those from video embeds) so that you can see and drag them around Compose mode.

  • New toolbar. This toolbar looks better, loads more quickly, and has undo and redo buttons. By popular demand, the full justification button has returned. We’ve also added a strike through button and improved the color palettes.

  • Hope that Helps!! Have fun with it!!!

Some fun, much needed family time....

So today was fun, we went to my grams and grampys, hung out with the family, ate, laughed, ate, took lots of goofy pictures, and ate some more. Ok I really didn't eat that much, but I do wish I had. My gramma made ribs ( seriously the best I have had ), barbecue chicken, a yummo salad, baked beans, potato salad, mac and cheese, rolls, pumpkin pie ( ewww ), and corn on the cob. It was gooooooood! We are going back tomorrow for more! It was a rainy day but you all know I love that!

We laughed, and fought over who was going to clean up the mess....This is my aunt amy, and my mom in the back their.

Isn't he so sweet? Precious. My other little guy hates his picture taken and he wasn't their long today as he had a bday party to attend. He had a blast.

My gramps and the little guy. My grampy is the bestttttt! I love this man! Isn't this picture precious?

We ate this.... I won this from a giveaway on A Giveaway Everyday, It is a cake from Bake Me A Wish.  This was a Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake and let me tell you it is yummmmmmy! A delicious cake delivered right to your door? What could be better? I think these are great to send someone who lives far away, or to someone that has everything and you have no idea what to get.

I can't believe I did not take a picture of it's prettiness before cutting into it, I guess it was just that good, lol. It's rich, and thick and moist. Seriously good. Oh and I am sure it's low in fat.

Ok who else is lovin bloggers new posting option? I am so excited about it. I can write my post and as I go I can click add image and it actually adds it where the cursor is. My goodness does this ever save on time. Plus you can do the strike through now, it's Great!

I made this today before we left to my grams. I know it's ugly, but I took out some store bought pilsbury cookie dough ( still learning the striking thingy mabobber, when and where to use it ), I had little candy stick thingys, and some little baggies I had gotten at walmart on clearance, I put the cookies on the cookie sheet, stuck in the sticks, baked, let them cool, bagged them up and added some ribbon, that was cute. But then I wanted a cute container so I stuck them in this with foam, and some red grassy stuff, I know it's not the cutest but for a few minutes in a hurry it's something. Also this is after the car ride, with a antsy 7 year old holding it and playing with it...These could be realy cute though in a little basket or a bucket with some cute pinwheels, or a little sign, or whatever. Add some cute little candies or icing smiley faces to the cookies. So much could be done and it's so easy.

    Remember this big green frame...

Well it needed a change, I sprayed it with some heirloom white and hung it on the wall. Love how it looks against the red walls. Did I distress it to much though?

So yep that was my day...Lots of randomness...But lots of fun and family time. We do NOT do it enough, holidays are not enough for us to all get together. Everyone. Hubby and I for awhile were going to my grandparents at least once a week, my aunt would come and we had a great time, but then you get busy and slack off and someday we will regret it. So we made a pact tonight on the way home to visit them at least once a week. They always complain cause we never come over and never bring the kids, they love seein the littles ( and me too of course :), We love going over their, my gramma is a nut ( a good nut ) and my gramps is just awesome and funny, we just get so busy, then the weekend comes and it's like we don't want to leave the house. I think it would be nice if the WHOLE family did it at least once a month. And instead of grams cooking everytime go to dinner, or everyone bring a dish, something like that. She always cooks, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Every. Single. Holiday. And she does it ALL herself, turkeys, hams, all the fixins, all by her lonesome, every holiday.Seriously that is A LOT of work for a soon to be 70 year young lady. Who does the cooking for your family get togethers? What are your holiday traditions? Is there one place everyone goes to every holiday? I would love to hear about all of yours!

Ok, this has been me rambling, But it's 12:32 am and I am going to go work on the bathroom even though I want to crawl into bed I have to makeup for lost time today, so nite nite all! Have a Great Labor Day Monday!!

Sooo am I crazy? Yep. Probably but super excited!

Ugggghhhh, Blogger is driving me crazy, it won't let me use my signature, but I am LOVIN the new post option, you can actually put pictures where you want them! You need to go in to your posting options and change your settings to the new post option to try it out!...Ok, had to get that out. So I know I haven't posted all my projects I said I was going to, I know, I know, I know, I'm terrible! But I promise they are coming. My little guy still hasn't been feeling well, he is better today and with 3 new toothies! Pour baby! Anyway, guess what?? I am so super excited, as I am redoing my bathroom COMPLETELY, all by MYSELF! Seriously, this is the biggest thing I have ever done and I am ever so proud of myself.

The left blue color is what I mixed, I am still tweaking it a bit but I like it better than the color on the right, which was my free glidden paint.

Let me give you a little background on my bathroom, ( I have before pics but sorry I refuse to show them til it's finished or you might not come back, it's. that. bad. ) It's horrid, no seriously its bad. It has been this way since we moved in over a year ago, once you see the before pics you will wonder how in the world I could stand this bathroom like this for so long. The paint, well not just the paint a lot of parts of the wall are peeling, the medicine cabinet is ginormous and hideous, the bottom half of the walls are tiled, the tiles you can tell where moisture got behind them and ruined them, plus they are like a greyish and mauve color,Our bathroom needs completely gutted, needs a new tub, needs all new walls, needs to be bigger, it's the only bathroom in the house and hopefully we will eventually have one in the basement so that we can rip up our main bathroom but that will be forever, so I decided to make it as pretty as I could, make it more livable, for now, until we get to tear it out and start over. I could not stand it anymore. I am changing everything, and guess how much it's all going to cost me? Nothing, nadda, zilch, absolutely FREE! That alone excites me. I had the paint and just mixed it to make the color more what I wanted, I scraped and peeled all the nastiness off the wall and used some plaster stuff we already had to smooth out the walls the best I could, I am changing up the mirror, painting the vanity, and guess what, I am adding wallpaper to cover the tiles on the bottom. I know what your thinking, no way but there is no way I can rip the tiles off and I know behind them is going to be probably a huge mildewy mess so for now, until this will work. Right? Wait til you see the wallpaper I am using, Can you guess? You all have seen it, right here on my blog.

Your probably thinking I am crazy, I am, but trust me when you see the before pictures you will agree with me that something needed to be done til the big redo can happen. Plus it's free and it really hasn't been that much work. After done I will probably have spent one day on it. What do you think of the color? The first picture above I was just playing, should I have gone with the lipstick red? Hahaha no way! They were all paint I had and again, I was playing in paint.

A couple of ugly things that I can't change in the bathroom are the flooring, it's black and white tile, and the countertop which is ugly but I ain't touchin it. Oh and the tub of course. It stays for now. Ok no promises but hopefully I will be all done after Monday. I will be back with something to show you before then though. Tomorrow we are headed to my grams for a cookout, what are your Labor Day Weekend plans?

I have lots of things to come this week. I am on a kick to get organized ( I am the most unorganized person on the planet ), I am reorganizing my kitchen, craft room, closets, you name it, Everything in this house is going to have a spot. It gets so messy when it doesn't. I also have a bloggy friend starting a candle party, my very first one eek! As well as a giveaway coming up!

Enjoy your 3 day weekends and time with the family!!!!!

    Nicole :)

I'm back with so much to share and Happy September 1st!!!

First, Happy September 1st!!! I am sooooo excited for September, and the fun Holiday months to come! Ok now on to business....I have been a horrible blogger the past week or so. So horrible I even missed my favorite Thrifty Treasures party and have also missed the last few weeks of DIY day. We had company as you know, the little guy started 2nd grade, then we had our sale ( horrible by the way ), and now it's getting my house reorganized as I have a dining room full of junk leftover from it, yippee! I'm glad it's all over, things are settling down, I can breathe, get some much needed organizing done, and craft. Yes craft, I am so excited to be making Fall and Holiday goodies, it's my first year doing it and it's my favorite time of the year! Anywho, I have so much to share with you just putting some finishing touches on a few things and I should have them up tonight or definitely in the morning. My littlest guy ( 9 months old ) was up ALL night, not feeling so good, he had a fever of 100.3 and has that nasty congested cough and is all stuffed up, I had him in bed with me and about 4am he woke me up and he was so hot, so I gave him some motrin and he played awhile yes played. As terrible as he sounded, and looked he was still his happy little self, he finally fell back asleep about 6am and slept for a couple hours and is MUCH better, no fever, just a slight cough and stuffiness. Sorry keep getting off track, here is a few things I have been doing...

    Remember this Goodwill desk?

Yea doesn't look much different does it? It needs something, I gave it a fresh coat of paint and though you can't tell much difference in the pictures it looks so much better than it did. I was going to go black with it and decided to do white now I am thinking how shapr would this look in black...Ahhh...No idea what to do, what would you do?

Remember this Goodwill find for $3.99 I think....

Well it got some black spray paint and some pretty paper, this was sooooooo easy to do and I love the look! However in person it looks awful, I sprayed it in the dark yes. the dark. And I think I gave it to heavy of a coat some some is chipping away but it still looks way better. Sorry I know this picture is awful...

I finished up lots of letters, and picture frames. The frames are so fun and easy to make. I love scrapbook paper and modge podge so much! Plus the frames are $1.00 at Michaels so it's an easy and cheap fix for some pretty art. I have so much fun doing the letters too, the possibilities are endless.

I have been working on some jewelry, I have this ring done and several necklaces that just need the bails glued on then I will show you. These are fun and easy to make too!

See my mirrors? Remember them here that I got at Hobby Lobby for $1 something, I just brushed them with some white paint and did a little distressing! Much better now!

That's all for now! Tonight I will show you another jewelry box redo, a clock redo, and some art I am working on for my office/craft room. I also have a new toy to show you, I haven't used it yet but cannot wait! Can you guess what it is? Here's a big hint....

    Hehehe!

Oh and guess what? I am coming up on my 100th post!!! Can you guess what that means???
