My FREE Coffee Table and Makeover...

I am joining in for one last Thrifty Treasures over at Southern Hospitality, Head over and see everyone's last finds of the season!

So last week I was lucky enough to score a few things from freecycle.org, I got this coffee table....

What you don't like it?

Still no?

Any better?

I do! I think it's great for FREE! I love the old look of the boards going across the top. It is not as shiny as the pictures make it seem, however I am a bit disappointed that it does have a little shine to it. I used satin, as I always do, but I used the American Traditions Rustoleum quart of paint I was so excited to find. My excitement is gone. Do you use satin or eggshell? Should I use eggshell? Does it wipe off easy? We have had eggshell walls before and I hated it as it did not clean well, but it could have been flat, I am clueless.

I also scored this sewing machine in perfect condition for FREE, again from freecycle.org. I should start charging them for all the advertising I do for them, haha!

I also got a booster seat in perfect, very clean condition. And next week I am getting a table and chairs. Crazy? Yes.

ok, how in the heck did you get so lucky with freecycle. I'm a member in my area and the ONLY thing people ever post are "Wanted:" LOL, no one EVER has anything to give away. And the emails crack me up, "wanted: one living room set, in good condiition. would like a sofa, love seat and chair, in leather if possible"...LOL, no seriously!! Oh, I lied, they do giveaway puppies a lot!!

Free is good! Big improvement on the table. Not sure about the paint - I used satin on a couple of projects that I think came out to shiny also. I do know that flat paint does not clean up well.

Great scores! Our Freecycle is so cliquey. Always the same people giving to the same people.

I love how it came out! It is a trade off on shiny or easy to clean. Flat paint is not so easy to clean, glossier paint is but it's shinier. Satin is a good in between.
