Some older Thrifty finds...

It's thrifty treasure time over at Rhodas! Make sure and check out everyones goodies for the week! I stayed away from thrifting this weekend as my project list is already a 100 miles long! It was hard let me tell you, there was SO MANY sales this weekend and I am sure GoodWill has sent out a missing persons report for me. But next weekend, I think it's next weekend is my favorite sale of the year! A huge community sale on Springfield Road, everyone does them and there are 100s! We went last year and it was fun, it's nice when you can just park and walk to several rather than gettin in and out especially when luggin the kiddos along. However I think I would like to leave them with Gramma ( *wink *wink gramma ) and just hubby and I go, plus that frees up lots of car space, hehe! I can't remember the last time I did not have both of the littles, I believe it was December and Gabriel was almost a month old and we HAD to go to my husbands Christmas Party for work and were gone a few hours. Maybe we can hit up a movie too after some yard saling ( *wink*wink gramma ). Anywho enough begging for a sitter, here is some old finds I never shared. Kind of boring, sorry my lovelies. I promise some exciting ones next week!

I don't know why but I have always wanted one of these, sorry for the horrible pics but it's shoved in a corner of my craft room right now that I seriously cannot get to, workin on that today. It's got 5 bins with chicken wire on the front. Now I have no idea what to do with it. I am thinking of painting it and putting it in an odd little spot in my bathroom and putting pretty towels and stuff in it. I was also thinking about getting rid of the chicken wire and putting pretty scrapbook paper in it or plexglass or something, no idea yet...Or it makes lovely storage in the craft room. This was a craigslist find btw.

This I found on target in the clearance for $6 I believe, it's HUGE. Tall, heavy, and pretty I think. I honestly thought about spraying it white and leaving the lid as is but it's a different color and I could use different. What do you think?

These I found a couple months ago at Kohls in the clearance for $5, cute little stacking bowls I thought would be fun for soup or ice cream in the winter. The little guy liked them.

An old goodwill find, an urn for $1, cute.

These were in a box of freecycle junk, there was tons of little old bottles which most I will probably pitch but I thought this would be cute white? and it has a little matching saucer too. Eh.

Another one out of the freecycle box...Again not to exciting but free so hey.

Ok, who wants to tell me what this thing is? I have no idea but it was in the box as well. Hmmm....

Wasn't that fun? Exciting, right? Can't wait to see all your finds for the week!! Can you tell I have been playing with the pictures on picnik.com? It's addicting and fun! Stay tuned, I have some really fun things to show you this week! I am making my own decorative pears, and some pretty decor things for fall!! Fallllllll!!!!!!! I cannot wait!!!! Winterrrrr! Woohoo!

I've got a bin alot like yours, and it just holds craft supplies. I really love that urn! And I hope Gramma is reading your blog, so you can have some fun time with your hubby!

I think that is a perfume atomizer. Can you squeeze the bulb thingie? I have seen those at high end antique shops....

Love that jar! I say paint it white and coordinate the lid color w/your room. And the little pitcher is adorable. As for that strange thing you're asking about- it looks dangerous!! LOL
Is the end a soft bulb or is it a solid piece?

Kammy

I agree with both you and Sue on the jar, go whitish.

Cool finds! Thanks for the reminder to check freecycle. Ours doesn't have a lot, but I always forget to check it out just in case.

Love the bins with the chicken wire. Can't wait to see what you do with it. I am curious about the last item, is it an atomizer???

Okay, the snowman bowls are too precious!!! I bet you'd get some good ideas for your chicken wire piece at my Decorating Dilemmas party on Wed. Hope to see you there! :)

It's hard to resist the call of Goodwill and garage sales, isn't it? I feel your pain, I didn't do any thrifty this week either, I also made myself focus on some of the finds I already had!

Hey Nicole,

I love that cupboard with the chicken wire. I like it just like it is with the distressed red paint, in fact. Another idea could be, if you have room, to put it in your kitchen and use it for potatoes, onions, fruit, or even as a pie safe. Please don't take the chicken wire off, that's what makes it so darn cute! :) That's just my opinion, anyway.

Blessings,

Nicole

I love your new look. Great finds. I love that amber-colored vase in the freecycle box.

I can't believe you're making things for that dreaded four letter word (F-A-L-L)!! It's too depressing to even begin to think about girl!

I do know what you mean about sending out the search party. I'm a huge fan of a certain Salvation Army Thrift Store and have been known to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars there in just one day because of all the good stuff they have! It's just soooo hard resisting deals. I just think of all the money I'm saving!

Thanks for stopping by The Devine Home and for leaving a comment. So nice to have new friends. Be sure to stop back by to see my kitchen before & afters!

Oh I love free finds! Freecycle in my area kinda stinks, but Craigslist, however, rocks! Love your $1 urn, too. Sooo pretty!

LOVE the chicken coop thingy.

I think I would leave the chicken wire for the texture and maybe add some paper behind it or something.

I hope you will come by for a visit.

Nicole,

Just wanted to say all of your comments over at my blog were super-sweet. And I am touched to know I encouraged you with my post. That's when blogging is at its best; when we encourage one another with our own journeys to keep going and press on in what the Lord has for us.

And I got up and made breakfast today! It was exciting! :)

Blessings,

Nicole

The mystery bottle is an atomizer, most probably used to spray something mediciney. My Mom had one that she filled with merthiolate which she sprayed in our throat when we had a sore throat. Yeh, I know, sounds bad doesn't it, but this was the sixties. You probably don't know what merthiolate is, but it was this orangey antibiotic liquid that I think is mercury-based so therefore no longer made, I'm sure. She also had mercurochrome which was dark red and was daubed on cuts and scrapes.
